Pedro Liguez Lara went home to God, joining his wife and family of angels in heaven on Sunday, October 24, 2021.He departed on his favorite day, a day he held sacred for God and family, just as the sunset and a lightning bolt lit the sky.
Pedro was born on June 29, 1935, to Auerlio Lara and Concepcion Liguez Lara in Montiola, Bee County, in the great state of Texas.
From childhood he had a committed work ethic, alongside his family, working the fields to assist his young widowed, beloved, mother surviving and remaining steadfast. His family circle and bond held strong, it included a grandmother Andrea Liguez, aunts, Juana Liguez, Maria Liguez, uncles Mariano Liguez and Santiago Liguez, Martin Liguez, brother, and sisters, all contributing to his enduring foundation. The love, values, devotion, and lessons were held deep in his heart never to be forgotten.
Pedro was a jack of all trades; he would joyfully reflect on his many jobs that took him to various destinations. He fondly, recalled his time working in ranches, training, Mustangs, earning their trust, marveling at their intelligence and loyalty. As a truck driver, he drove long hours taking pleasure in the scenic, beautiful American landscape. Working as a laborer instilled a love and respect for the land along with an acquired palate for the freshest fruits mother nature provides. He could always tell you the best varieties and where the best produce came from. At Office Equipment, he made long lasting friendships, put his carpentry skills to work, giving antiques a new luster, tinkering with old safes that only he could open, and of course lifting heavy furniture, showing everyone how it’s done!
He married, his longtime sweetheart, Evadelia Mendoza, on April 9,1969 in Laredo Mexico and again on November 9,1970, Laredo, Texas, it was his wish to marry her on Mexican and Texas soil. Their union brought one daughter Delia Lara. Together and inseparable they shared the big moments and simple, but precious, magical, ordinary days of life.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed all things related to physical fitness, lifting weights, boxing, playing baseball, riding a bike, and of course taking long walks with his wife. He delighted in sharing his passion for Texas History, The Mexican Revolution, Chicano Civil Rights. He was well versed and memorized dates and facts with ease. His Tejano pride was evident as he visited the Missions in San Antonio and other places of historical significance. He loved good food, Dr. Pepper, classic, old school Tejano music, watching Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete movies and Westerns.
Pedro was a man of faith; he liked to pray and look at nature. He had deep compassion for all, people and animals. Daily he would fill water for birds and squirrels. If someone was in need or distress, he would drop what he was doing, to help. Give what he could spare. He and his wife in agreement would say “that’s what we are here for, to help each other out.”
Pedro is preceded in death by his, parents Aurelio and Concepcion Lara, wife, Evadelia Lara, brother Santiago Liguez Lara, sisters, Alicia Lara Hernandez, Eduarda Lara Silva,Guadalupe Lara Ramos, nephew Santiago Lara Jr. (Jimmy).
He is survived by, daughter, Delia Lara and son in law, Michael, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be dearly missed but his legacy will continue.
