Mattie Eldridge-Haynes Obituary

Family, friends, and loved ones cling to fond memories as our beloved Mattie Bernice Eldridge-Haynes has been called home; she passed peacefully in her sleep early Sunday morning October 22, 2023. Celebrated for her sharp wit, effortless humor, & timeless style, ‘Mattie B.’ brought light, laughter, and love to the world around her.  Born 31 January 1968, Mattie Bernice Eldridge-Haynes was welcomed as the second eldest daughter of Rose A. Siverand and Pinkie Eldridge Jr.  After being blessed with 55 years on this earth, Mattie has now joined those who passed on before her including her father - Pinkie Eldridge Jr., her maternal grandmother - Dora B. Siverand, maternal grandfather – Winfred Siverand, and her paternal grandmother - Lille M. Porter.  The sorrow and tremendous grief of Mattie’s departure will weigh on the hearts of those loved ones left behind, but none more than her two sons Timothy James Eldridge and Christopher Rene Haynes.  Grieving family and loved ones also include two daughters-in-law (Chelsea Eldridge - wife of Timothy and Audrey Haynes - wife of Christopher) and 4 grandchildren (Timothy’s children Brandon, Laurynn, and Preston as well as Christopher’s son Ahlias). Mattie, was the second of five daughters born to a now grieving mother, Rose.  She will live on in the hearts and souls of her mother and four sisters - Lillie Marie, Martha Louise, Eunice Gean, and Michelle Lee.   In this time of great sorrow, Ecclesiastes reminds that …for “everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: 2a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; 3a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; 7a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace" (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8; King James Version).
