In Loving Memory of Lafayette Patterson Jr., (Sunrise) August 7th, 1942…(Sunset) July 8th, 2022.
Lafayette was born to the union of Lafayette Patterson Sr. (deceased) and Sallie Patterson (deceased) in Jonesville, S.C. They eventually moved to Seattle, WA where he grew up and graduated from Garfield High School in 1960. Right after graduation, he entered the United States Navy and became a Nuclear Physicist operating the Nuclear reactor as a Submariner. Next, he went on to become a Navy Seal and earned a Purple Heart. He completed his Tour of Duty in 1968. He next pioneered the “Shoot No Shoot” simulation training system for law enforcement starting with the Seattle Police Department, then he went on to train police officers nationwide. He worked alongside many great people in his career on various projects, notably Dr. Joyce Moon Howard, Scott Hansen, Tony Shannon, Lee Brown, Attorney’s Wendy Anderson and Ward Sax and many others. He was also a Screenplay writer of a trilogy series and developed the “Scout Car”.
He is survived by his daughter Renissa Patterson (Dallas, TX), grandson Alexander Trevon Patterson (Dallas, TX), sister Betty (Elizabeth) Patterson Morris (Seattle, WA), brother Walter Patterson (Seattle, WA), sister Sharon Patterson (Los Angeles, CA), sister Peggy Cheatham Kendrix (Seattle, WA), sister Debora Rae Cheatham (Seattle, WA) and Aunt Janie Ruth Colston (Seattle, WA) as well as a host of additional relatives and friends.

Trevon said “He blazed the trail and showed me what it meant to be a PATTERSON!”
Auntie Betty said “To my Big Brother I dedicate Smokey Robinsons song, “ Really Gonna Miss You”. May the Lord, Allah and ALL the Heavenly Powers comfort you on your journey. I hear you playing your trumpet as you sail."
Auntie Sharon said “He was a CREATIVE GENIUS and a loving brother.”
Auntie Peggy said “He was very intelligent and proud to have had him as a brother.”
Auntie Debora said “I was thankful to have such an amazing, caring and determined brother.”
Auntie Janie said “He was the funniest first nephew and he thought that I was too small to wash his face!”
Lafayette Patterson Jr’s Celebration of Life will be August 5th, 2022 in Dallas, TX.
