JoAnn McKinnis Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of JoAnn Marie McKinnis of New Hope, Texas on August 13, 2021 at the age of 80. JoAnn passed away peacefully at the Beehive Home in Lewisville, Texas. Joann was born in 1941 to Kenneth and Mary Ann Ridenour in Lake Deerfield, Illinois. She graduated from Beloit High School in 1959. After graduation she went on to Nursing school.  She married and raised 3 sons and 2 daughters and lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, Arkansas and finally residing back in Texas to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

JoAnn will be greatly missed by her children and family. She is survived by her sons, Robert Asplin and wife, Ange of Highland Village, John Asplin and wife, Dina of Plano and Thomas Asplin and wife, Kim of Terrell; daughters, Elizabeth Raisor and husband, Gary of Kentucky and Linda Frohn; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; younger brothers, Rick Ridenour and wife, Denette, and John Ridenour.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Mary Ann Ridenour; sister-in-law, Irene Ridenour.

Throughout her personal and professional  life, JoAnn had a servant heart , found great joy in helping others and could light up the room with her contagious smile.  She was a loving and attentive nurse for many years. After nursing and as her children grew up, she was called to real estate and was an award-winning realtor for many years. She spent many years in Texas as Blue Cross insurance agent then put her entrepreneur skills to work  when she bought and ran a chicken farm for numerous years in Arkansas.  Later in life she volunteered at Frisco’s Project for the Future where she again touched the lives of many.  She was a devout Catholic, antique collector and an avid collector of chickens.  She loved her chickens! There will be a celebration of her life held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Hospice Plus and Beehive Homes of Lewisville for their exceptional love and care of JoAnn for the past several months.
