Douglas Robertson Obituary

Douglas Warne Robertson died April 14, 2023 in Dallas, Texas, the result of complications of dementia. He was 87. Douglas was born March 7, 1936 in Vivian, Louisiana, the first son of Mildred Brown Robertson and Edwin Early Robertson. His family moved to Shreveport where he graduated C.E. Byrd High School, lettering in baseball and basketball and supporting football as a cheerleader. Following high school, he attended Louisiana Tech University and the University of Oklahoma, studying Petroleum Engineering. Prior to a stint in the Air Force, Doug married Verna Hastings, also of Shreveport. After the military, he worked as a Petroleum Engineer for Standard Oil Company of Texas in Gainesville, Delta Drilling Company in Tyler and Hattiesburg, Mississippi and then at Tesoro Petroleum in San Antonio. While in San Antonio, Doug attained his MBA at UTSA. In 1983, Doug moved his family to Dallas where he formed Robertson Onshore Drilling Company, beginning with one workover rig which grew to seventeen rigs with three offices operating in five states. He was a former member of Royal Oaks Country Club, the Cherokee Club and Kappa Alpha Order. He was a longtime member of the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Board. He was predeceased by his parents, infant son Grey and brother Richard Paul Robertson. He is survived by his wife Verna, son Trent and daughter Keon, son Drew and his wife Raeann and grandchildren Phillip, Sophie and Taylor and daughter Chase Martin and her husband Antoine and grandchildren Celeste and Felix. Memorial gifts may be made to the Salvation Army or the Church of the Incarnation. Doug was a scout leader, T-ball coach, fine furniture builder, guitar player, chalice bearer, lay reader, teaser, jokester, big golfer, devoted father and faithful husband. He was a wonderful man. The funeral service will be April 27, 1:00 pm at the Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney, Dallas, Texas.
